About the California Pop & Jazz Council

Thank you for cruising our website...

The California Pop and Jazz Council is a group of individuals who are involved in actions to create
quality music.  We are dedicated to elevating the publics' perception of the value of the rich
cultural heritage of American pop and jazz music. We want to improve and enhance the quality of
performances rendered by this genre's musical artists, and we'd like to foster and create
environments which will support these goals and purposes.

As we realize that we are more and more a community, we can help ourselves and each other by
our actions as a supportive group focusing on and creating events to nourish all. It's the best of all
worlds, people coming together and creating good results for themselves and others.

We are a new organization, learning as we grow, and setting policies along the way. The
organization arose from the people coming to the jam sessions at the Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio
City, California as well as members from the, now dissolved, Jazz Vocal Coalition. It's a great group;
talented, supportive, and interested in learning and developing careers.

Our members perform worldwide individually, and since we are located in Southern California,
members are showcased regularly at many venues across the southland including The Jazz
Bakery in Culver City, Catalina Bar and Grill, Cafe' 322, Hip Kitty, Calitalia in Calabasas as well as
The Hollywood Studio Bar and Grill in Hollywood, plus many other venues highlighting our
members’ individually !

We have a Board, which meets regularly, and a general membership, which holds meetings every
3 to 5 weeks. We are elated by your interest in the
CPJC, and look forward to hearing from you
including your ideas and suggested actions for this group who are dedicated to the music of jazz.
